Solar battery storage is used to capture electricity produced by both renewable and non-renewable resources and store it to use when required. The system allows users to rely less on the grid and switch to stored electricity at a time most beneficial, giving greater flexibility and control of your energy consumption. The benefits of energy storage are magnified further when combined with a solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
If you have a Time of Use (ToU) energy tariff, or a meter that offers you off-peak rates, you can easily store low-cost electricity overnight and use your solar battery to power your home during high-cost hour.
You can increase the benefit you’ll get from your solar panels by storing your excess solar generation for when you need it, even when the sun sets. This could save you money as, typically, the electricity you buy when your panels aren’t generating, costs more than the amount you’ll be paid with a Smart Export tariff. This means it’s more cost-effective to store the surplus energy until you need it rather than selling it and needing to buy back electricity from the grid at a later time.
Your solar battery is usually installed in a single day but, due to its weight, it needs to be fitted by two engineers. However, if you are also having solar panels installed, we can make the process quicker and more cost-effective by using the same team of installers for both.
